Welcome to Kuipers Family Fruit Farm 🍑🍒

 

Welcome to our third-generation Century Farm in Kelowna, where the Kuipers' family has been growing fruit on Barnaby Road for more than 100 years.

​

Our story began in the 1920s, when Marius and Sarie Kuipers immigrated from Holland and established the family orchard. For many years, the farm produced cherries, apricots, peaches, pears, apples, and Italian prune plums for commercial markets and the local community.

 

The next generation, Richard and Edith Kuipers, continued caring for the farm as it transitioned away from large-scale commercial production.

Today, Vince and Connie Kuipers are carrying on that family tradition. More than a century after the original orchard was established, the farm has been extensively renewed, with the majority of our fruit trees now eight years old or younger. These newer plantings allow us to preserve the farm’s agricultural heritage while growing a diverse selection of fruit for our community and visitors.

Our orchard includes seven varieties of cherries, four varieties of apricots, and Glow Haven peaches, along with Italian prune plums, pears, and apples.

Throughout the growing season, we offer:

• Cherries: June and July

• Apricots: July

• Glow Haven Peaches: August

• Italian prune plums, pears, and apples: September

Fruit doesn’t follow a fixed calendar—it ripens when it’s ready! Our opening dates, hours, and fruit availability are determined by the crop, weather, and natural ripening conditions.

​

Our goal is to maintain a diverse, traditional orchard while using fewer pesticide applications than are typically required in intensive commercial fruit production.

​

Come pick some fruit, enjoy the orchard, and take in the beautiful Okanagan scenery while experiencing a small piece of Kelowna’s agricultural heritage.
